There are 2 new cases in the Atlantic Bubble today, both in PEI; NS reports 1 recovery. The new cases are male essential workers (non-healthcare) who recently traveled to PEI from out of the country, and have been self-isolating since their arrival on Aug. 24. One man is in his 20s and the other is in his 30s. This means there are 2 active cases in PEI, 5 in NS, 4 in NB and 1 in NFLD, none known to be related to the Atlantic Bubble itself. In NS, 53/65 (82%) NS deaths are from Northwood and 57/65 (88%) are from long term care in general (11 different facilities have reported cases, none have an active case). Yesterday, 869 tests were completed with 0 new cases reported.
From the Press Release:
The province of NS is renewing the state of emergency to protect the health and safety of Nova Scotians and ensure the safe reopening of businesses and services. The order will take effect at noon Sunday, Sept. 6 and extend to noon Sunday, Sept. 20, unless government terminates or extends it.
Beginning today, the list of symptoms being screened for COVID-19 is being updated to reflect the epidemiology in Nova Scotia.
“When we broadened the list, we said we would continue to monitor how COVID-19 presents and adapt the list of symptoms if needed,” said Dr. Robert Strang, chief medical officer of health for Nova Scotia. “We have reviewed the symptoms that our confirmed cases were presenting with and are confident that having a narrower list will still allow us to identify people with COVID-19.”
