There are 6 new cases in the Atlantic Bubble today (NS & NB reporting), all in NB; NB reports 1 death (4th overall) and 8 recoveries, NFLD also reports 2 recoveries. Ontario numbers are updated. All new cases in NB are in zone 5 (Campbellton region). The death was reported by the mayor of Dalhousie, NB which is in zone 5. It was an individual between 70 and 79 who died as a result of underlying complications, including COVID-19. This means there are 3 active cases in PEI, 5 in NS, 92 in NB and 9 in NFLD, none known to be related to the Atlantic Bubble itself. In NS, 53/65 (82%) NS deaths are from Northwood and 57/65 (88%) are from long term care in general (11 different facilities have reported cases, none have an active case). Yesterday, 766 tests were completed with 0 new cases reported.

“The loss of another person in our province related to COVID-19 is not news we ever want to have to share,” said Premier Blaine Higgs. “I, along with all New Brunswickers, send sincere condolences to the family and friends of this individual, as well as to everyone who continues to be impacted by the recent outbreaks.”
“I ask all New Brunswick to join me in extending our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of health. “It has been difficult to witness the unfolding outbreak in the Campbellton-Restigouche region.”
On Tuesday, Oct. 20, the school community of Dalhousie Regional High School was notified of a second confirmed positive COVID-19 case and no student-to-student transmission of COVID-19 has been recorded in any New Brunswick school to date. This case has no connection with the previously identified case. Students of the school in Grades 9 to 12 are learning remotely today. School staff will contact affected families with more information. Students of the school in Grades 6 to 8 are learning remotely until Friday, Oct. 23, with the possibility of extending beyond that date. Families will continue to receive updates from the school as decisions are made.

- Spain reported 218 deaths yesterday for an increase of 0.64%.
- Austria reports 11 deaths for an increase of 1.2%.
- Australia reports 1 death for an increase of 0.11%. 26/28 days are under 0.75%, all under 1%.
- The rate of increase in Canada is 0.16% with 16 deaths (11 QC, 3 ON, 1 AB, 1 BC). This marks 83/96 days at/under 0.15%.
- The US rate of increase is 0.43%. 29/34 days are at/under a 0.45% increase, 9 of them at/under 0.2%.
- Sweden's increase is 0.12% meaning 53/59 days are at/under 0.05%, all but 1 under 0.1%.
